Hello everyone! Been a while. I have been extremely busy with work this couple of past weeks, but I'm relatively free now, so I can both watch and review more stuff!
This time around I'm going to review another anime: Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo.
This is your generic school life, harem, ecchi anime. But then again, with some time you realise that there actually is a good plot, and this anime can even be called inspiring! Well without further ado...
Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo
I'll skip the parts where I talk about plot and mention pros and cons for starters. SPOILER ALERT!
Pros:
1. At first it seems like this anime is just a simple show, just as any other, with nothing special to offer except for some good humour and fanservice. But hey! It turns out that the main characters are all creative people, with Shiina being a famous artist who wants to become a mangaka, Misaki and Jin being in anime production, Nanami trying to become a seiyuu and finally Sorata wanting to become a game designer. I really love anime that make you get inspired to get your shit together, follow your dreams and reach them. Right now I am having a struggle with myself, so I sort of found some answers for my own problems while watching this anime.
2. Just like the first one, another inspirational point of Sakurasou. Even though everyone fails, nobody is perfect, but they never, NEVER give up. They try again and again, they try harder. Sounds like Naruto, lol but people who have dreams and follow them are to be cherished and admired.
3. I'd say I liked the character development. With 24 episodes we got to see more of each character. I liked seeing Shiina change, experience new feelings and try to express them. Same goes for the other characters.
3. Do I need to mention the art in this anime? Splendid. Just splendid. Words won't do justice, so here are some screenshots:
4. The whole anime was a nice surprise. If you read too much into it you can get the following message I suppose: Friendship is everything. Love is everything. Goals and aims are everything. You can reach anything you want if you try real hard. Never give up even if you trip on your way and keep moving forward no matter what happens.
Cons:
1. At first the harem style and ecchi-ness were putting me off. But then the harem got spread, Turned out that Misaki is into Jin and always will be. And basically the only people who could be :)
2. I'm usually for following one's dreams no matter what those are, but then again I'm not completely happy with Shiina Mashiro's choice of becoming an average mangaka when she could have been a great artist. It's sad seeing people give up their talents.
3. I also hated Sorata at times, he was way to hateful for his own good. He was jealous of Shiina's success, even though he knew she tried probably much harder than he ever had. It's annoying. But I can't blame him much. Failure makes you hateful.
4. Jin was a pretty nice character. But I do not think that a 17-18 year old boy spends every single night with a married woman. While the girl he actually loves is next doors and wants to be held by him. Get your shit together man! (At least he did it towards the end).
I guess I do not have much to add. This was a nice anime. It had great humour. Made me laugh a lot. It was inspirational, it was motivational. Doesn't happen a lot these days. Art was splendid, music was okay. I liked most of the characters. There wasn't one I'd pick and start hating on to begin with.
As for humour I want to mention the scene with Sorata and his dad in bath. Was so goddamn hilarious!
But then again, I'm looking for something more in anime I watch these days, so I can't give 9 or 10 to this one. However it deserves an 8. Definitely worth your time!
Well, that is it. Till we meet again, think of what colour do you want to be?
